Ben's "Why"
Alaskans are wondering aloud, “what has happened to our state?” The answer? Dependency on government is bringing woke policies to Alaska.
- How did we get to a place where we rely upon government funded healthcare, government funded daycare, and now some want to get us hooked on unreliable energy like government subsidized wind & solar and imported LNG?
- How did we get to a point where our public-school outcomes are at the bottom of the pack nationally?
- How is our economy and state population in decline but our state government continues to grow?
- How have we gotten to a point where legislators are divided over whether boys should play in girls sports and have access to girl’s locker rooms?
As a member of the legislature for the past six years, my record is clear. I’ve been fighting for Alaskan families:
- I’ve taken the political risk to champion a long-term fiscal plan that prioritizes economic growth and less-costly, better managed government, while requiring that the state pay a permanent fund dividend according to law.
- I've opposed efforts to put state money towards replacing reliable firm-energy production with unreliable and costly renewable energy projects.
- I’ve sponsored legislation in support of better education outcomes with a ‘Parents and Teachers Bill of Rights’ bringing accountability to our classrooms through increased transparency and competition within our education system.
- I’ve demanded that our education system become more responsive to parents. It is first and foremost the parent’s right – and responsibility – to direct the education of their children.
- I’ve authored legislation improving our first responders and teacher’s retirement systems without adding to our state debt.
- I’ve opposed all attempts to return to an unaffordable defined benefit retirement system for public sector unions that would add billions of dollars to our unfunded liabilities.
- I’ve co-sponsored legislation protecting our girls from human traffickers and voted to protect girls’ sports.
We’re Alaskans and were supposed to be independent and self-sufficient! I stand for common sense "anti-woke" policies in our state and I can use your help!
